 BUCHAREST – At least four people have died in Romania due to flooding triggered by torrential rains affecting Central and Eastern Europe and raising river levels, authorities announced on Saturday.

Local emergency services indicated that 19 locations have been affected and dozens of people have been rescued.

A video from the rescue services shows numerous homes submerged in water in a village along the Danube River.

More rainfall is forecast in the coming days in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, southern Germany, and parts of Austria.

In addition to Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary have been preparing since Thursday for the arrival of Cyclone Boris, leading to the cancellation of many cultural events due to strong winds and heavy rainfall.
